Actually he's not wrong at all. China in the 80s was fucked up and China in the 60s was completely fucked up. The fact they are mildly fucked up and their economy is finally catching up to the west after 500 years does not mean that fucking shit up is good for the economy.

Whatever happened to "workers of the world unite"? You should be glad that your job is being outsourced to someone living in actual poverty, and thankful to the corporation that's doing it.

China has double digit growth rates because it is closing the technology gap.

Communism is technically flawed.

There is no difference between collectivizing something and setting up some other kind of bureaucracy, you cannot simply snap your fingers and collectivize something, a worker's council is not a worker's council, it is a bureaucratic system intended to act as a worker's council, which means it is no different from any bureaucracy, which means it is faced with the same problems, which means communist ideologues actually impede progress towards their objectives with their dogmatic belief system. Communism fails the pragmatic test because it attempts to attribute almost supernatural values to mundane practical actions. Are communists fighting for communism or direct democracy? If they want direct democracy why not fight for liberty and democracy instead like the american revolutionaries?

Is communism then more of a value for directing the purpose of bureaucracy? Please excuse me in advance for mentioning religion as I'm just using it as a historical example, indoctrinating everyone into communism is little different from indoctrinating them to follow in the way of Jesus/Muhammed/Moses/Buddha, Jesus said "give all your money to the poor if you want to go to heaven" but how many christians do this? Although this may be the intention of more intelligent communists it does not work, many totalitarian dictatorships used and some still use marxism as the basis for their state religion, it is ineffective which removes the last straw of communism.

So can anything be salvaged from the disaster that is communism? Of course. We can immunize political culture from this kind of mystical thinking and distinguish it's flaws from the righteous crusade communists claim they are on, we can put across the idea that it is possible to share the values espoused by communists while rejecting the impractical policies communists offer as a route to achieving them.

>Foreigners can't even own more than 25% of a Chinese company.
Do you really think their mercantilist policies benefit them? They are just denying themselves capital reserves for virtually no gain in security.
