I remember some anon once autistically calculating what the minimum population would be for an Ecumenopolis world like coruscant and the low end is a couple hundred billion using current population densities.
When you have buildings that are miles tall it starts to skyrocket.
You'd actually start running into problems like how you dump the waste heat of all those people crammed together.
You would also begin drowning in an ocean of shit and piss before too long because what are you supposed to do with it all?

Depends what you're going to be feeding them. You need resources from the rest of your world to keep your archologies from eating themselves alive.
