Opie here. On a related note, if you don't mind me asking, supposing someone gave you a sack of iodized table salt and told you it had 97% sodium chloride and 1% potassium iodide by weight with the rest being undesirable trash such as aluminum silicate, traces of heavy and light metals and who knows what.

Given that, and using home lab skills, could you extract pure potassium iodide from that mess?

If life began in the sea, why is salt so effective at killing pathogens and critters inside meat when people use it to cure beef, pork etc?

The lethal dose for perchlorate ingestion in humans is 0.124g per kg of body weight. How many liters of water would a 165lb person need to drink in order todie from perchlorate poisoning(assuming it isn't eliminated or inhibited) if the normal amount of perchlorate in drinking water is 16 micrograms.L?

Had this question on a hw assignment. Already turned in, probably got it wrong. How the fuck do I do this?

Hey /sci/

I have a bunch of m-800's, does anyone know anything cool I can do with them? I already dissected one. I want to make a rocket, I don't want to make a bomb

I have that Pyrex glass measuring cup. Best fucking measuring cup I ever bought. Actually, I stole it from my parents after having my cheap plastic cups melt or the measurements rub off.
My parents almost never notice when I "borrow" their kitchenware, but they actually called me looking for the cup not long after I took it.

Anyways, even after tons of use and a few years, the writing on the glass is still clear as ever, and it's managed to survive a drop or two.

Calculate the mass of a 7,815 cubic micrometer piece of dry ice. The density of dry ice is 1.5 g/cm3, and 1 inch = 2.54 cm.

How smart is /sci/?

Actually, I got 1.17x10^-8 and my friend got 1.17x10^-11

Who is right?
