Depends on whether you could spark a continuance of a person's "existing perception occurrence". If you can, then you could become immortal really. You'd have to overcome the lifespan of the universe however, or even the structural constraints of the universe (which is probably impossible as the universe seems chaotic and is "universal" - finding something outside of the universe makes it a part of the universe).

So we don't know what is possible. We're just guessing and assuming we're going to return to nothing (and assuming that returning to nothing is possible - it probably isn't because all you are is what you have experienced with existence. Nothing is not related to the scope of your being).
