I'm recruiting local engineers to form an 'idea guys' group, who'd collectively brainstorm business & thereafter recruit the needed talent to run them - inheriting a small % of equity / revenue along the way.
I've got plenty of ideas to contribute, myself.

LET'S GO BABY ! !

My GF and I are graduating college soon.

She just got into a biochemistry PhD program and is going next year. It's shittily ranked though, between top 50 and top 100.

So, this relationship probably isn't going to work out, right?

Is the best way for me to avoid her getting snatched up by some Chad PhD student/hooking up with her PhD advisor to go to law school next year (got into a top 20 program) and become a high profile corporate lawyer?

I don't really want to do this because it would require working six days a week for 12 hours a day for the next five years, however, I also want to keep this chick around.

Of course, we need to discuss what's the best way to invest our 300k during our first year of working.

Looking back on 2019, I didn't get anything of note done and it's making me think a bit.

I have some friends who have made extremely difficult achievements in a variety of areas.
Then others (such as myself) are still shitting around doing absolutely nothing, not fulfilling their potential if they even have any, etc.

The ones accomplishing shit are not necessarily smarter or better than the ones wasting their life away. They just work harder with almost single-minded focus at the thing they're interested in.
What I wonder is why? Could it be genetic? Are underachievers just bound to be who they are? Are there genes associated with conscientiousness?

I think anon in this or last thread made a good point, I think we should start numbering these threads. There would be more motivation to link the previous thread and would keep a better order to track good posts.

I propose the next thread starts as /mg/ #300

don't study stem. they are pushing stem to drive down wages. studying something like law/economics has much better returns.

working conditions of stem professions, especially engineering is horrible. pay is incredibly low for starting pay, and even after 10 years of experience you barely make more than a 20 year old plumber.

there is no stem shortage. the "stem shortage" for companies is not being able to find an engineer with 15+ years of experience for janitor pay.

all my friends who studied accounting/finance make more than i while all my engineering friends did unpaid internships for months only to get shit jobs
you have been warned. drop out immediately. maybe the only exception is CS
