a)multiply the denominator and numerator in the first fraction by x+2. The denominator will have x^2 - 4 (it's that identity a^2 - b^2 = (a-b)(a+b).
connect the two fractions. Do the algebra on the numerator and write the denominator as
(x-2)(x+2)
On the numerator you will be able to do a factorization and reveal (x-2). Done

b)Apply the identity used before to the numerator. Remember
a^4 - b^4 = (a^2 - b^2)(a^2 + b^2)
Do the algebra. Then take the highest power in the numerator and the denominator and you are done.
