OP I think you're missing a big factor in this equation:

Mars has no niggers.

You can tell me to go back to /pol/ all you want but it's true. Just look at all the shit Chinese contractors hired to build infrastructure in the Congo have to deal with.

As far as the other four it's simply an issue of who owns what. I mean I respect some poor fuck that thinks he's going to tame Siberia but chances are pretty high a good chunk of that shit is going to be federal property anyway.

With Mars everything's free game and all bets are off. There's no land laws or Nations on Mars. There's no really annoying spear chucking GIBS ME DAT natives. There's not annoying as fuck federal government shoving its nose up your ass every other week to pass new regulations that increase the taxes on your operation.

Now, granted, the technology we'd have to develop to exploit areas like the Sahara, Australia, and so on are the technologies we'd actually need to tame Mars. Mars is a lot like those places except worse.

All I really have to say about this poor fuck is God bless him. If he thinks we're getting to Mars any time in the next two decades then he might be crazy or a secret genius. Either way God bless him.
