I don't know what to focus on.
I don't know what research niche I should invest my time in.
Whenever I think I made a decision I start having second thoughts.
It feels like people around me are just going with the flow and basically let luck dictate their future.
Anyone else feel like this?
Is this normal?
What the fuck do I do?

I’d like some feedback to my vague and likely uninformed idea, so please tell me what you think.

Theory: contemporary social interactions, especially those between men and women, are marked by confusion and near-constant misunderstandings because of three general reasons beyond differing biology and gendered conditioning:

1. a culmination of historical forces has resulted in extreme social upheaval, disrupting cultural homogeneity and by extension intracultural communication;

2. social media and other forms of media, like mass entertainment, have damaged sociability by conditioning individuals to have unrealistic expectations for relationships and even simple social interactions, and this media is often used as a substitute for authentic communication and/or real socialization because it occupies the mind of the observer and distracts them from the demands of social interaction;

3. in the late 20th century, and perhaps earlier, there was a trend towards a lack of socialization during childhood, in addition to increased incidence of mental disorders/illnesses such as Autism and Aspergers, and these have greatly impaired social interactions; and, to make matters worse, this trend of poorly socially developed individuals appears to be increasing.

Can someone give me a quick rundown on hypothyroidism?

Felt sort of sluggish and slept a lot the last couple of weeks, so I had some blood work done by my GP. Turns out my TSH is high (4.9 mU/l), but fT3 and fT4 are normal. He says this may be a sign of latent hypothyrodism, in particular since my mother also has it and my symptoms match, and I should go see a specialist. My appointment there is in a couple of weeks and until then I decided to do some research on my own.

What are possible causes of hypothyroidism? Are there alternative treatments to hormone medication? What are other possible causes for elevated TSH, in particular if thyroxin levels are normal?

Do people with very high IQs (145+) need to study? Or can they just be exposed to one example problem and deduce all possible possible permutations of that problem that are likely to show up on an exam and call it a day without needing any practice at all?

My understanding is that if you take something that two people are capable of doing, such as welding or something, and one guy has a 100 IQ and the other 115, the 115 will learn faster, but the 100 IQ guy is still capable of being an incredible welder with enough time and experience.

However, are there really tasks that people, even with enough time, simply cannot do or comprehend within enough time? I guess you can't teach a mentally retarded person (IQ 50 or something) to do physics, or can you?

Within a certain range, are there certain topics that can be understood by everyone (let's say IQ's greater than 100) but the separation between them is in the time it takes them to grasp the topic? Or is there something else that separates a 100 IQ person and a 140 IQ person? What are we quantifying when we say someone has a certain IQ? Is it just a test that has good predictive power or is there something essential that we're quantifying?

What's something a 140 IQ can understand that a 115 or 120 IQ can't?

Are we really in a simulation? When you hear the logic it sounds like it's probably true. Is it?

What implications does the answer to that have for us?
