I can't stand him. I think that pop science encourages close mindedness and Dunning Kruger. We don't need to get more people in science. As it is, we have enough people in most fields, and bombarding the population with "I fucking love science!"shit is not going to change the fact that only a small fraction have an aptitude for it. It just gives us more 95 IQs who think they understand loop quantum gravity.

As for Tyson, he's an asshole who made a fortune off progressive ideals by repackaging them as "science". On my high school, people would hear him speak for two reasons: 1) They loved hearing that God wasn't real and the feeling of superiority that accompanied that and 2) these white liberals get off to hearing a black man spout this thinly veiled propaganda. The most satisfying feeling for a human is moral indignance, and that's what he gives them towards those who don't buy into his athiest nonsense.
