Ok, I can't believe I'm going to make a serious response to a post-scarcity/Singularity/pie-in-the-sky thread, but...

Before considering life *after* post-scarcity, you should consider the radical changes that would occur to life before. Specifically, you need to ask yourself if as we go along the logical development of new technologies our normal social organizations and traditional culture could possibly go unchanged throughout.

The obvious answer is no. So by the time we're able to see anything like 'post-scarcity' our cultural institutions are going to have seen upheavals which render our naive picture of what such a society might look like utterly comical.
