Yes. Even by the basic physics of classical mechanics, this shit has been know for hundreds of fucking years.

This whole "conservation of energy" thing only applies to certain system with homogenious time.

Note: it is currently easier (form a vast majority of materials) to just make the material and experimentally figure out its bulk properties, then to try and figure out the bulk properties form theory.

You are correct - those ideologies are not mutually exclusive, but while humility in the face of all things is a virtue regarding what we think we know, the modern 'anti-intellectual' crap going on is absolute bullshit.
We have reasoning capabilities. This puts us above and beyond every other animal on this planet. Use those mental faculties or shut the hell up.

There is no magical easy method or trick to motivate you to want to study. That spark must come from you. The desire to learn must be yours and yours alone. The motivation for doing so may be different, but all motivation stems from wanting to achieve a goal. Without a goal, you aren't getting anywhere. The "tricks" come into play in developing your work ethic by either fooling yourself in small ways (considering free time as a product of work or thinking an assignment is due sooner than it actually is), limiting yourself (homework as soon as you get home, nothing else first), structuring yourself (by way of a schedule, prioritizing, having a support group to help and push you to study), and most importantly by regularly repeating all of the previous to cement them into habits and form a routine. Most productive people have a routine, and for good reason.

I'll put it this way: democracy does not make for the best decisions most of the time, it really doesn't. But unlike oligarchies, democracy reflects (or should reflect when ideal) the minds of the people.

If you get one guy who is intelligent, bold and honest enough to make the right decisions for everyone, but that "everyone" has no voice about it, even if the imediate outcome is good, the people will react to it negatively. They will not understand and in that disparity in power, extremist ideas and propaganda will arise, from both parts. A hypothetical good authoritarian regime could feed everyone, the idiot, the intelligent, the poor, those who disagree with him and those who agree, equally, but the government will not be able to teach them to make their own choices, people will stagnate intellectually.

If we want a better, more intelligent society, then we need to focus on transparency. A guy saying "the sun is a star" is not enough for a dumb bitch to understand and what happends next? She denies it. If the conditions are right that she can get to that conclusion on herself, there would be no problem. This analogy works for the State in the sense that if the people see the result of their votes, for good and for bad, more clearly, with less ideological interference, then the people is able to vote better the next time and better the next time. However, if we reduce politics to mere arm wrestling, if we have more dogmas and taboos than transparency and thought, things go out of control.

(I know it's easy to think like pic related and I think Asimov has a good point, but it's not all about that and it's not all about "democracy is great!" either. Is about listening more to each other, so that ignorance can't impose itself upon intelligent ideas any more)

cont.

Well, I also defend your right to say it, but I wish you could study it more and make better conclusions out of it. Not for me, but for yourself.
