Humans did not evolve to use power in a selfless or responsible manner.
Our selfish genes have a huge stake in us using power for our own evolutionary ends.

We are born with emotional tendencies which attempt to trick us into thinking we're being reasonable and fair when in fact we are not.
As the old saying goes: power corrupts.
If you don't realise this then you're already corrupted. In fact i would generally agree with plato when he said:

>"Those who seek power are invariably the least fit to hold and wield it".

And that's a huge problem your system of government will run into.

The safeguards against tyranny which democracy puts in place are indispenseable. If you honestly can't muster up the objectivity to see this, then you should definitely never be allowed any sort of position of power over other people.
