/sci/, legitimate question here.
Scientifically, how are 'we' ourselves, and what makes 'us', 'us'? It's difficult to word without using the religious jargon 'spirit', but how can the anomaly that provides us interaction with consciousness be linked/associated to the bodies' mental processes, and what makes it specific to the individual? Say, if a couple atoms were missing/altered in the very early stages of development within the womb, would my consciousnesses/self be altered so the construct of reality I perceive now not exist? I hope this doesn't come off as absolute nonsense.
