Is there any program fags around? I need help with something

I've got to write a python program (never done so but I was told its easier than Visual Basic) that takes in a txt file as input and then outputs 5 other text files. I should be able to figure out the interworking no program however I have only ever made/ran programs on my computer but this one will need to work on a cluster (Unix server connection of super computers)

Is there anything different I should worry about or is essentially the same as if I was writing it to run on my own computer?
