IQ is a very coarse predictor. If you're under 120, as >>1063150 pointed out, you're probably not going to get a PhD in anything rigorous. If you're over 140, you're exponentially more likely to be successful and make meaningful contributions. But it really just sets upper bounds on your intellectual achievement, what you do within the range available to you isn't determined by that upper bound.
