That's right: every one of those photos was taken by a robot. And robots have rolled across the face of Mars and set down on Titan and even Venus and Jupiter (before they were destroyed).

Expect this to continue, meatbag, and the machines to get more mobile and autonomous. It's cheaper, faster and far more informative. Eventually, tiny probes the size of rice grains will be sent to the stars, where they'll build our new civilization for us. The nice part is, every time you, as a consumer, buy a smaller and more powerful smartphone, you're actually helping to push that eventuality forward.
