By that logic, Pluto should be Planet 10, since Ceres was also considered to be a planet for like 50 years. Sometimes stuff gets recategorized as new information becomes available.

What's amusing is that this isn't the first time this kind of debate has happened in the astronomical community. Back when Ceres was first discovered it was widely considered to be a planet; you can find old university textbooks that list it as such. But decades later when astronomers realized there were a bunch of objects in that vicinity, they decided a new category was in order.
