They had literally zero trash waste in bunches of communities for thousands of years because of natural hyenid recycling systems all across Africa until white people murdered them wholesale in their infinite knowledge because obviously anything that touches things that we abstractly consider "ours"

needs to die. We'd have a lot less problems if we actually got along with our neighbors and didn't try to do it all ourselves when there are things adapted to do it easier with less horrendous petrochemical byproducts. We need to welcome back our omnivorous extant biological relatives we've evolved alongside (and interdependent with) to our waste processing ideas. New isn't always efficient, and biology beats out mechanics any day. Efficiency doesn't require literacy, it reqires observation. >Literacy is just an easy way of transmitting observations
