I thinking today, I know an irrational times a rational is always irrational. but what is an irrational times an irrational? I can think of like (root2 )^2, which is a product of irrationals equaling a rational. but this doesn't always happen. root2 times pi for example, is irrational.

Is there a general rule for this?
