My physics textbook says "Unlike photon absorption, which almost always occurs only if the photon energy exactly matches the difference between energy levels... blah blah"

My question is why the "almost always"? Is it just the writing style or are there situations when a photon is only partially absorbed, or only partially changes the energy state?

Also, when photons are emitted from an exited material, they don't all have the exact same energy level, right? There must be just a small range where they are all within. If so what causes the minor differences?

I think that the majority of mankind believes in gods, angels, and all those fairytales not because they lack intelligence, but because they lack control over their emotions, specifically the emotions which prevent them from not believing in fairytales, such as the desire to belong to a group, the fear of death, the desire to have an almighty being watching your back, etcetera. In other words, it's a matter of willpower, not intelligence.

What does /sci/ think? Is this accurate?

requesting your appraisal here.
You may wish to consider muting the video, the guy's really fkning annoying.
Nonetheless, please evaluate what you think is happening here, and conjecture some explanations that aren't horribly alarming, if you would.

I've come to the conclusion that something made us...

Just take DNA, one aspect of Life.

A specific enzyme that unwinds the DNA, one that stabilises it and holds it open, one that adds base pairs in order, to create a new strand, one that joins Okazaki fragments to make a complementary strand. Then the codons, 64 sequences of base pairs that code for amino acids. tRNA fetches the amino acids and bring them to the ribosome, where the mRNA is being read sequentially. The polypeptide formed is folded into proteins by specific chaperone enzymes, creating a functional protein etc etc etc etc.

This all seems to good to true. Its all so perfect.

I always thought i was a straight up scientist, but i really think we were made by something now. Anyone else?

inb4 religion or creator worship. i dont believe in it and never will. doesnt stop me thinking we were designed by something or someone though.
