What will happen to humanity if it turns out that space travel nearing the speed of light or using wormholes requires more energy than available in the solar system, and that this is a hard limit?

Would this not practically guarantee that we will destroy ourselves before colonizing the galaxy?

You are walking down the street, headed in the direction of the nearest supermarket. You only want a bottle of milk. There is a road crossing before you arrive at your destination. You look left, and look right, nothing is coming. As you begin to cross the road a bright light appears to be coming toward you. You turn in the direction of the light and hear a loud horn being sounded. Suddenely everything goes black, you wake up in total darkness. You cannot feel anything, not even the floor you are lying on or whether your head is upright or not. A sudden chill runs down your spine and a sense of overwelming calmness washes over you.
A deep voice composed of many different voices whispers from the shadows. "I am the creator and the guardian of all things" It says.
"You may ask me one question, and one only, then I will send you back to your mortal body"

What do you ask /sci/?

Have it ever occurred to you that nothing makes sense? I'm all for enjoying life and educating yourself, but when you think about it, nothing makes sense at all.

I came to this conclusion as I was reflecting upon the Universe and its beginning, or creation if you will. And then it hit me, like a freight train. The Universe can't have a beginning. The Universe is everything, and if the Universe 'was created' it would mean that something created it, else it would come out of absolutely nothing. That is impossible to grasp because no matter how you put it, there always has to have been something, some predecessor to what we see now.

Therefore nothing makes sense. The very world we live in is toying with our minds, or rather our minds is toying with us. They say that our brains aren't built to comprehend certain things, and that's the only comfort I can find in this pit of endless contemplations.

Somethings just aren't meant to be understood, and maybe we should be thankful for that, I don't know. But I really needed to vent about this since it's been causing me some distress, and I don't see how it can not bother anyone who takes a second to wonder.

Got bored so I wrote this. The points I make are probably obvious to a lot of you. I wrote this for absolutely no reason, except I like to write stuff out when I'm thinking about it, so I'm probably just going to delete it, so I thought I might as well let it be read by some one before than.
