Hola /sci/, know of any good Chemistry tutoring websites? I'm horrible at Chemistry and would like to seek advice online as my professor is rarely available for private tutoring and office hours.

Much appreciated.

Shouldn't be aproblem for anyone good in chemistry. Could you please tell me the solution to this and how to calculate it:

How much of KH2PO4 you need to dilute in distilled water to get a 100 ml solution with phosphor concentration of 2 mgP/l

I'm learning basic chemistry in my spare time and I'm stumped on this particular topic. I've looked for anything that might help but I can't find anything that clears it up. Here's one of the questions for this section:

>1L Propane measured at 294K and 8.44atm burns in excess oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water. How many litres of carbon dioxide are produced, measured at 1198K and 1atm?

I know I'm supposed to use the ideal gas law to find the number of moles of propane in 1L, which is approximately 0.0035. I don't know what to do next, though. Can you help, /sci/?

Which field gives me a better chance of progressing into a career?

Chemistry or Physics?

I'm willing to go to PhD level on both.

Any of you guys teachers?
If so, let me know how you like it, and give some advice for going in such a field.
I'm thinking about going to school to be a Chemistry teacher.

Well there is one thing that i dont get it on buffer solution...

Lets say that we will make buffer solution from Na2HPO4 and KH2PO4.

This salt will dissolve like this in water :
Na2HPO4 => 2Na + HPO4
KH2PO4 => K + H2PO4

So our buffer solution is going on this equilibrium ;

H2PO4 <=> H + HPO4

in that case , the pH of the solution is depends on H+ ions that forms in equilibrium.
But ;
doesnt HPO4 also dissolves like this in water ?
HPO4 <=> H + PO4

shouldn't the pH also depends on the last equilibrium too ?

Not a usual visitor of this board. I've been getting more curious about the building blocks of life and how everything around us is actually possible. I need to know if there's any sites that could help with understanding the fundamentals of chemistry.
I want to know exactly how an element affect things and how they are used to make things like alloys, powders, flavor, etc. What makes calcium carbonate help remove plaque, why does methyl salicylate have a wintergreen flavor, stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated. My chemistry books don't seem to help much.

0.025 mol of a base M(OH2) is dissolved in water to make solution of 500mL. pH of this solution was found to be 13. Is M(OH2) a strong or weak base? Explain your reasoning with relevant calculations.

How the fuck do I go about this one?

I need some help /sci/

I'm studying for my first exam and this is the only problem I'm having trouble with.

A 1.00m aqueos solution of compound X had a boiling point of 101.04 Celsius. Which one of the following could be compound X? The boiling point elevation constant for water is 0.52

A) CH3CH2OH
B) KCL
C) C6H12O6
D) NA3PO4

I'm pretty sure I have to use

ΔTb=(Kb)(m)

Would someone be able to explain it to me?

Thank you in advance!

I have a question regarding writing down results from an experiment into a table. Please tell me how to do it with the following values:

Dish = 2.2g
Zinc = 0.57g
Initial temp = 25°C
Final temp = 30°C

My teacher is strict and I need it in a table, not just written out like that.

Thanks.

Hi /sci/

Please help me with Chemistry. The Topic is Chemical Energetics. I only need you to solve one problem. I started but I don't know further steps. The equation is Q = mcΔT. Thanks.

1. Calculate heat energy required to raise the temperature of 50.0g water from 20.0 to 60.0°C.

Heat capacity of water = 4.2 J/g K = 4.2 kJ/kg K

Anyone wanna lend a hand?
Got a chem problem here.

You have been asked to produce 7.8g of isotopically labeled copper sulfate pentahydrate. You start with copper metal that contains 95% (w/w) ^67Cu, which has a half-life of 61.83 hours and 83% (w/v) sulfuric acid. Calculate the charges of the reactants, if the isolated yield reported in the literature was 91.3% of theory. What is the copper metal contaminated with?

Any help at all is appreciated.

Persons of /sci/ence...

I have followed the stickied link and found the chemistry links lacking, some because they were too simple and some because they where removed or otherwise modified so that I couldn't use them anymore.

Can anyone provide a better starting point to restart my study of chemistry (I had taken some classes in college, the minimum for my major, but I wish to start again and continue further... because chemistry is fucking hard and I give props to those who majored in it).

I don't mind buying books (I have some monies to spend on this) but I figured there are some chemistry-types here that would be more knowledgeable on what books would be the best starting point.

thanks for any help you provide

tl;dr: care to help a bro learn him some chemistry?

chemical reactions test tomorrow... how do? I can't seem to rap my head around most of them. Sometimes a synthesis reaction is A + B > AB and other times it's A + B > X, where x is just a whole new substance. I can't seem to get complex ions or gravimetric analysis either. .
