If 3D objects can be perceived on 2D (not technically, but practically) mediums (photographs, drawings, perspective), is it possible that we can perceive the 4th dimension (granted with the limitation of the mediums sub dimension) by creating a 'currently unknown' 3D model in a 3D space?

Unluckily we would probably require access to the 4th spatial dimension to actually create and understand this 3D model.

Is there even a physical fourth spatial dimension anyway? I should have probably asked this first.

A subject that has always fascinated me.. higher dimensions.

The best theory, a way to possibly understand for me, I saw on a video somewhere - By imagining a one-dimensional line, in which if you move to one direction, you would get to the same spot you started in, resulting into a two-dimensional circle. Now, in the two-dimensional plane, if you move on, you'd get to the same point, which would result into a circle. The possible 1d-creatures would be living on the surface of a 2d-object, and the 2d-creatures on the surface of an 3d-object.

If this was so, moving a loooooooooong way in the 3d-space, you'd come back to the same point you started in. Are we living "on the surface" of a 4d-object? If we move on, we don't go in circle back to the point where we started, but rather "bend" backwards, if that makes any sense..

What do you think?

Friendly friend from /tg/ here. I want to make a dungeon map that takes place in some kind of tesseract-like structure, but I can't wrap my head quite around the concept. This image sums it up nicely for me, but there's a problem. I am told a tesseract has 8 cubes within it, yet I only see 6 cubes. Can you /sci/entists point out where each cube is for me?

Ok /sci/, I think I kinda understand the concept of the tesseract, but I don't get "where" is the fourth dimension in there. Explanations would be appreciated.

ok /sci/, i took it upon myself to learn about the 4th dimension and tesseracts, could any of you please help explain these?
