I know this is a meme but what will laws in space work like? Will it be treated like international waters? Anyone hyped for the type of civilization that will develop on Mars? It'll be at least for the first few decades the first civilization where each citizen is 130+ IQ. Everyone will have to have a useful job to society, engineer, doctor, botanist, chemist, etc. It will be a society of extremely hardy and practical pioneers who will have to master a wilderness and frontier harsher than any humans have ever had to deal with. With no micromanagement from Earth being really feasible, they will have to self govern and master themselves. So many forms of government may be perfectly feasible when the body politic is comprised of such individuals, and depending on the developmental circumstances I could see direct democracy, technocracy, or fascism arise. There will be no place for leeches, grifters, or bums for at least the first few decades if not century. Society cannot function with them and they'll get spaced if they don't shape up. Everyone will have to earn their keep. The people will also be united in an almost spiritual common purpose to survive another day, of making the rock habitable, and eventually terraforming the planet. Eventually Mars will have the best universities, scientists, engineers, shipwrights, etc while Earth will stagnate into poverty on one hand and decadence on the other. I cannot wait for Mars to declare independence and nuke any Earth ships that try to stop them. It will be a revitalization of the soul of the human race, the humans who conquer the stars will come from Mars and the torch of civilization will burn on forever if we can get off this shithole before it deteriorates.
