Seeing as penis size is very important to human biology (which is why it was selected for, unlike in other primates) why isn't there being research done on how to make the penis grow again? There is a massive monetary incentive too.

t. coping 7.3inch dicklet.

1. Establish the conditions that cause the penis to grow during puberty (hormone levels, what genes are expressed in the penile tissues, possible presence of stem cells).

2. Mimic these in an adult (every single one of the above 3 can be done with current technology)

3. Induce organic growth of the penis as if you were in puberty.

All this pulling and stretching shit is a primitive fix with mediocre results, biochemically induced PE will be the holy grail.

Could the penis be made to grow again with some biochemical fuckery? Like somehow sensitizing it to androgens again. You can grow your guts with excessive insulin abuse, so something similar could be possible with the penis.

Why does the penis stop responding to androgens and growth hormones? If the penis could be made sensitive to these hormones again, like it is during puberty, high quality growth of the penis could be induced easily.

What causes one to get extreme penile enlargement as a consequence of priapism?

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0090429500006518
>We report a little known sequela of priapism: painless megalophallus, with significant penile enlargement.

>Megalophallus probably resulted from permanent loss of elasticity of the tunica albuginea due to severe engorgement during the episode of priapism

>This sequela needs to be recognized by physicians because no intervention is necessary and sexual function seems to remain intact.

How can a long lasting erection (priapism) cause the erectile tissue to become permanently enlarged? Surely the pressure from an erection isn't enough to cause the tissue to permanently deform?

Physiologically speaking, what happens in the body that causes megalophallus (extremely enlarged penis)?

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1743609515311140
>A 33 year old man presented to us with a history of neglected priapism for 12 days 2 years previously. He developed a permanent unusual enlargement of the penis and erectile dysfunction.

https://www.goldjournal.net/article/S0090-4295(00)00651-8/fulltext
>We report a little known sequela of priapism: painless megalophallus, with significant penile enlargement. The patient had had an intense episode of priapism 9 years previously and his penis remained enlarged.
>Blood oxygen level-dependent magnetic resonance imaging revealed enlarged, hypoxic corpora cavernosa.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/859210/
>A case of megalophallus in sickle cell disease with repeated episodes of priapism is reported. A possible cause of penile hypertrophy with preservation of potency is discussed. Corpus cavernography was helpful in the diagnostic evaluation.

How could priapism result in penile hypertrophy? Sometimes even with no loss of function. Could megalophallus perhaps be induced in regular people by way of doing controlled priapisms?

Why do humans have such massive penises compared to other great apes? Our penises are way bigger in both absolute terms and relative to body mass. What evolutionary pressure lead to this development?

One of the ways the penis stops responding to testosterone (and other androgens) is by downregulation of the androgen receptors in penile tissue. The high doses of various androgens present during puberty subsequently causes the number of androgen receptors in penile tissues to fall. This negative feedback loop is one of the mechanisms that causes the penis to eventually stop growing (there's probably other mechanisms in play too).

Micropenis and other types of underdevelopment of the penis in boys and men is treated with various hormones (hCG, DHT, kisspeptin all are used for this purpose). The female clitoris, which is homologous to the penis and comes from the same embryonic progenitor cells, also respond to these hormones with growth. But the adult, fully grown penis does not respond to the very same hormones with growth. Micropenises and clitorises have not experienced this negative feedback loop of high level of androgens and therefore still respond to them with growth.

If it were possible to increase androgen receptor density in the adult penis, perhaps it would respond to various androgens with tissue growth? It'd be like a second puberty for your penis.

It's funny, I recall reading posts from around 2008-2014 where people hypothesized that you could grow a bigger penis by inhibiting or weakening the crosslinking of collagen and elastin, which is exactly was done in the study.

There was a guy who injected chemicals into his penis with the same goal and mechanism of action in mind. He injected papaverine which causes intense erections and also weakens collagen like in the study. He didn't use a vacuum device but his idea was that the long lasting erections from the papaverine would exert force on the tunica albuginea and buck's fascia of the penis. He did this for several months and documented his gains, he went from 7.5x5in to 9.5x6.5in with picture proof. I can link his posts if anyone wants.

This study seems to confirm such a penis enhancement method works, what a funny coincidence

Suppose that there are 2 penises. One is an adult one and the other is a pubertal one.

The pubertal one responds to various androgenic hormones and grows, but the adult one does not respond to these very same hormones with growth. Why is this? What mechanism is at play here?
