I sometimes see talking people using the density of a set as a substitute for volume. "Oh, set X is dense in set Y, so intuitively almost every element of Y is X". But this makes no fucking sense, rationals and irrationals are both dense in [math]\mathbb{R}[/math], but you would never say "almost every real number is rational" due to the difference in cardinalities. What is the actual intuition for a set being dense in another set?

Why are /sci/ memes so terrible these days? There used to be nice memes like pic related but now we only get frogposters and wojak posters flinging shit on each others fields and posting virgin vs chad memes

You can definitely understand a lot of concept in physics without in-depth mathematics, just from analogy, but to actually understand the vast majority of physics material will require some maths. Generally, the more complicated concepts tend to be underpinned by more complicated maths, but not always I suppose.

What's the point of going to a university to study math? Physics or engineering or chemistry I can understand, because those require specific materials to study them. But if math is what you love, wouldn't it make more sense to just rederive all of modern math by yourself?
