What's the deal with Ext and Tor functors? How to see them intuitively? Why were they invented?

What do you think will come of quantum gravity research when physics finally abandons the cancerous meme known as "string theory"? The unfalsifiable religion, that has no progress, or prospects. Feynman said it best. "String theorists don't make predictions, they make excuses."

Loop quantum gravity? Something today unheard of?

i'm feeling incredibly dumb right now... i have "time to move"/"slowness" as a function of distance. it takes 0.010 seconds to cross d=100, 0.023 s for d=1000, 0.061 s for d=10000, 0.451 s for d=100000, 10.003 s for d=1000000, 313 s for d=1000000. can i somehow turn this into time as a function of distance?

what does an integral do in my case?

what am i missing here?

i'm feeling incredibly dumb right now... i have velocity as a function of distance. can i somehow turn this into time as a function of distance?

what does an integral do in my case? it doesn't even seem to give me distance as a function of time, since that would be the integral of velocity as a function of time.

what am i missing here?

>Professor Stuart Hameroff from the University of Arizona has no doubts about the existence of eternal soul. As recently as last year, he announced that he has found evidence that consciousness does not perish after death.

>According to Hameroff, the human brain is the perfect quantum computer and the soul or consciousness is simply information stored at the quantum level. It can be transferred, following the death of the body; quantum information represented by consciousness merges with our universe and exist there indefinitely.

>The biocentrism expert Lanza proves that the soul migrates to another universe. That is the main difference from his other colleagues.

I'd like to see how he "proves' it

>Sir Roger Penrose, a famous British physicist and expert in mathematics from Oxford, supports this theory, and he has also found traces of contact with other universes. Together, the scientists are developing quantum theory to explain the phenomenon of consciousness. They believe that they found carriers of consciousness, the elements that accumulate information during life, and after death of the body they “drain” consciousness somewhere else. These elements are located inside protein-based microtubules (neuronal microtubules), which previously have been attributed a simple role of reinforcement and transport channeling inside a living cell. Based on their structure, microtubules are best suited to function as carriers of quantum properties inside the brain. That is mainly because they are able to retain quantum states for a long time, meaning they can function as elements of a quantum computer.

What exactly is the source of adaptation/evolution?

How do our bodies know to change over time?

Would artificial manmade life be capable of evolution/adaptation?

Hello guys,

I am making a project, i am high school senior.

Now - math has never been my strong side, i am struggling to pass each year so i have been given project that is relevant to my level (in other words, it my seem childish to you).

I have asked my classmates 2 questions:
1. How far do you live from school?
2. How many minutes per week are you late for school?

I have 30 answers, i need to make graphs where i can show correlation between these two questions.

Any idea which programme should i use/how to execute it?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

AREA OF SMALL PIZZA: 3.14x26x26 = 2122.64
AREA OF LARGE PIZZA: 3.14x36x36 = 4069.44

4069.44/2122.64 = 1.917

SO THE LARGE PIZZA IS 1.917 TIMES LARGER THAN THE SMALL ONE

THE PRICE:

15.70/8.70 = 1.8

SO THE COST OF THE LARGER PIZZA IS 1.8 TIMES THE COST OF THE SMALLER, YET IT'S AREA IS 1.9 TIMES LARGER THAN THE SMALLER PIZZA. PICK THE LARGER PIZZA #FUCKTHESYSTEM #INNIT2WINNIT

hello /sci/

I recently had surgery and was required to use hibiclens (chlorhexidine gluconate). After washing my shower with a bleach solution I noticed a light sweet smell (not similar to bleach, which I find more sour-smelling) and felt slightly high.

I'm not a chemist, but can someone verify if this is a reaction?

5 mol NaClO + C_22(H_30)Cl_2(N_10) + O_2 -> 5 N2O + 5 NaCl + C_22(H_30)Cl_2(O_2)

thanks guys!

Sup /sci/

If you have a ball with say 3 strings attached to it at the top, and they are attached a bit away from eachother and of similar length, and they you tied them together at the other end, then spun the ball around once untill the twisted strings stopped it and it started spinning the opposite way to untwist the threads, would the ball achieve the same peak turning speed as it did when you first started spinning it or would it be less?

Assuming you ignore air friction and you only give it an initial spin and then dont touch it

Yea, just because your trip says medfag doesn't mean you really are one. Medicine is the best, let me see what mathematicians and physicists do when they have to undergo a major surgery.

Hello /sci/,

I just finished my masters in electrical engineering from a Canadian school, and want to have a chance at living in a new country for 6-12 months. The thing is, I feel that no companies would be interested in hiring me as it would only be for a short term. However, for two summers in a row my prof has had researchers from different countries visit for 1-2 months, so I feel like my best chances would be working for a lab somewhere since I would be useful from day 1 (hopefully). No schools that I have looked at have any programs like this, so I think that my best bet is to just send my CV to profs whose research and city interests me, but I want to hear your thoughts, as some of you probably have some good knowledge on this topic. My prof also has some connections in Spain, Switzerland and Germany, but nothing in England which is a country I also really want to consider.

tl;dr how to gain travel experience just after completing a masters degree.
