I took an exam a while ago and in one of the problems I used the following to arrive to my solution. I've never studied logic and am only aware of the notation necessary that was used in my course, so although this doesn't seem wrong to me, I'd be willing to change my mind.

Is the negation of an or statement involving A and B an and statement involving A and B?

That is, letting /\ denote and, V or, and ~ the negation, and = as equivalence,

Is the following true:

~ ( A V B ) = ~(A /\ B) = ~A /\ ~B
