My sister works in a hospital laboratory and the resistant superbacteria are becoming a massive issue, first they would pop up maybe once a month, but now multiple times a week according to her.

Are we overdue for another great pandemic?

>It is plausible that the galaxies within our observable universe represent only a minuscule fraction of the galaxies in the Universe. According to the theory of cosmic inflation initially introduced by its founder, Alan Guth, if it is assumed that inflation began about 10^−37 seconds after the Big Bang, then with the plausible assumption that the size of the Universe before the inflation occurred was approximately equal to the speed of light times its age, that would suggest that at present the entire universe's size is at least 3x10^23 times the radius of the observable universe. There are also lower estimates claiming that the entire universe is in excess of 250 times larger than the observable universe and also higher estimates implying that the universe is at least 10^10^10^122 times larger than the observable universe.

The only problem is that it doesn't make any sense. If time dilation on the event horizon really goes to infinity that means it's impossible to ever go trough. You'd just float on the edge observing time go super extremely fast until you either get killed by something, the black hole dies or the universe ends

Hey /sci/, I need some help with python.

If I wanted to print the first so many elements of a list, say like 5 or 6, what would the command line be? Like, say I have a list with 15 items in it and I want the user to input a variable, and it prints the items up to that input. What would I do?

Am I the only one who gets really depressed sometimes over the limited nature of our life? I mean...just think about it. I like to think that the Law of Conservation of Information means in some way means that perhaps I may live on in something else, in a form of pseudo-reincarnation. But I mean...it won't be ME. And then I'd trudge through that life, being depressed over the same shit.

It just confounds me to no end how people, other than religious nutjobs, can go about their everyday without just getting depressed sometimes. It's not like I'm in a perpetual state of emo, but sometimes it just hits me like a mac truck. That my life WILL end...and no one knows what is going to happen after, and I'm terrified of the notion of just going into well...nothing.

I guess ITT: Science and the Afterlife.
