Hey guys. Why not genetically modify everyone?

Problem solved. If we all work together we can stop whatever luddite hippies don't like that idea and support good wholesome corporations like Monsanto that are advancing this technology. That way we will make the world a better place.

What is your idea of a relevant scientific discovery?

Michael Faraday's "inventions" were also experiments that expanded our knowledge of electricity, as a whole the discoveries proved very relevant. In the same way when we delve into genetics we are advancing science.

meme argument: compare it with homeopathy labeling, why should labels have to cater to quack medicine?

common sense argument: business should be able to choose for themselves, if a business wants to market organic non GM food they can do it on their own

scientific argument: There are many naturally evolved genes that result in the production of "toxins" and potentially carcinogenic substances and we already rigorously test for them, we only need to apply the same standards to GM, GM shouldn't be treated as an exception. There is nothing inherently different about GM that means that all GM plants and animals will always produce harmful substances, it depends on the specific genes themselves, whether it is naturally evolved or modified.

Imagine 30 people living on $1000 a year each and 1 person living on $30000 a year

you might argue "the person living on $30000 is greedy and consuming a lot of resources", but if you ask this person to sacrifice $6000 to reduce air pollution and open up natural parks that they are allowed to visit and enjoy they might do so

however if you ask the 30 people living on $1000 a year to give up $200 a year, this could mean the difference between them getting enough food or medication, they are more likely to refuse

so you need to reduce poverty and improve standards of living

over the past 200 years what has been the biggest reducer of poverty? communism? charity? Science of course. So what you do is invest in good wholesome All American corporations like monsanto that pour billions into R&D and distribute their technology all over the globe.

sucrose is a glucose and fructose molecule joined by an ether bond

during digestion the enzyme sucrase quickly breaks the sucrose down into glucose and fructose, 50% glucose and 50% fructose

HFCS 55 is used in soft drinks, 55% fructose

HFCS 42 in other food products

http://www.honey.com/images/downloads/carb.pdf
The honey here was 38% fructose and 30.31%, that comes to 55.87% fructose if you exclude other substances.

So unless you're a plebeian who drinks soft drinks, HFCS actually has less fructose than honey and sugar. You are better off consuming products containing HFCS and believing in corporate America.
