is the idea of superposition where classical mechanics really splits from quantum mechanics?

i can't nail down anything else except for the superposition principle. particle-wave duality seems to be modelable in classical mechanics, but superposition seems intractable.

Yes, and no. When you distort a pure tone, a sine wave, you create harmonics. Musicians also add "white noise" which really should be called "white sound" because noise, by definition, is unwanted. But that is not distortion.

The vibrato effect, on the other hand, is modulation, not distortion. I'm not sure what to call the technique Abba used, overdubbing at slightly different speed. But I liked it.
