f(x) can take on any value as it x approaches a, say L is that value.

A continuous function will arrive at L.
A discontinuous function may arrive elsewhere.

So the answer is, generally NO.

If f(x) is continuous on x, then the answer is YES....almost always....There is the Gamma Function after all, continuous, but fucks you so many, many times.
