So I've graduated from babby's first physics and chemistry classes, and now the material is becoming too hard to sleep through the classes. I need a better way to organize myself so I can understand the material to my liking.

How does /sci/ take effective notes, study for classes, etc. in order to 1) understand all concepts; 2) retain concepts in memory; 3) make connections; and 4) keep track of problem-solving for exams?

-- --

I was thinking about making this a routine:

>skim textbook before lecture, noting what makes sense and what doesn't

>take notes during lecture, focusing on 1) key concepts, derivations, and equations, 2) useful problem-solving tips, 3) points of difficulty, and 4) sudden insights

>revise notes ASAP by first organizing lecture notes on a computer, then simultaneously reconciling notes from lecture with notetaking from textbook.

>keep a separate workbook only for problem sets, practice problems, lab reports, etc.

>make a shortlist of concepts & types of problems, including a signpost to where in my notes or my workbook

I was also thinking about using Anki as a good system to automatically & efficiently review topics at irregular intervals. What's your take on this?

I'm looking for a cheap and comprehensive precalculus textbook.

How does Precalculus by Carl Stitz and Jeff Zeager compare to other textbooks?
