Another case of binarymind?

There are a myriad of possible reasons why we haven't seen evidence of intelligent life in addition to the ever popular "IT'S IMPOSSIBLE" and "THEY ALL KILL THEMSELVES", which are more a reflection of the proponent's own lack of imagination or pessimism.

Because he's much smarter than us, makes a lot of money and is popular.

For us science hipsters, the last part is nearly a criminal offense.

And it doesn't help that he's a real scientist no matter how much we want to deny that fact. Acknowledging it would destroy the last shreds of ego that we still have.

It's starting to kill me every time I see a climate 'skeptic' thread here.

No matter the evidence for climate change, and the evidence showing that it's anthropogenic, there's always "Thanks, but I still don't believe it due to (prejudice and ignorance shrouded in nicer terms)"

If these 'skeptics' aren't satisfied with 99% probability, then these threads are at best useless and redundant. At worst, they're a soapbox from which climate 'skeptics' preach their message of anti-science.

And the fact that it's being done on a science board is the part which really irks me.
