No, you can not.
All thermic plants need water for cooling, the more powerful your plant the more water you need. For this reason all nuclear plants are near the coast or at least on a large lake or river.

But you could build solar or wind farms in a desert.

Also energy transport over huge distances means large losses. Preferably you build a plant near a big city or an industrial center.

These solar powper plants >>10007056 are in Spain. Spain is in the most western part of West Europe. Actually it's the south western corner of Europe. You can look it up on a map. Spain is dry and sunny.
It's mirrors, solar boilers and steam turbines.
It's producing energy 24 hours a day because heat is stored.
