Everyone gets that same weird half lift with this stuff, just cut the fucker in half and see what it does.

And I think it's less of intentional obfuscation and more about them just getting it accidentally somewhat right, but not knowing exactly how.
I also believe that the guy went rogue and published the paper prematurely, because he had a feeling the Korean institute was going to keep this under the lid and he might have been fucked out of any credit, which is extremely likely in the case of any breed of slants.
They're glory hounds by nature and will stab each other in the back mercilessly to steal credit.

So now it's up for everyone else to figure this out, but by doing so the original patent means fuckall because the composition and manufacturing techniques will be too different from the original.
The scientist might have fucked Korea entirely out of making a cent from this by releasing the info to the public to play with.
Instead some garage guy is going to figure it out, sell the technique to Raytheon for a million and we all pay the burgers forever for the miracle tech.
