People always ask, "If the big bang created the universe, then what was there before it to make it possible?" To which the common reply is, "If God created the universe instead, then where did HE come from?"
That's the common reply because we as humans seem completely incapable of imagining how the universe truly DID start, and what came before everything.
I have an idea of how nothingness could exist in the beginning, and how something like the big bang can indeed come out of it. It may sound crazy, but really think about it.

Are you familiar with the grandfather paradox? The concept of going back in time and killing your grandfather, making yourself nonexistent, thus making it impossible for you to kill your grandfather, resulting in a never ending loop and ultimately a tear in space and time. Basically Doc's main concern in Back to the Future.

The Preservation of Matter law states that matter cannot be destroyed or created, which, when applied to the universe, could mean the universe has always been here for an infinite amount of time, going in a continuous circle of big bang, development of planets, critical mass, black holes, singularity and back to a big bang. This means that everything you have done or will ever do/have the chance to do has already been done an infinite amount of times, and every choice you could ever make and everything that could ever happen has already happened an infinite amount of time. Also, every atom has been in every place it could ever have been an infinite amount of times, because matter is finite and the time it's had to explore all possible options of space to occupy is infinite. Therefore, when you die, there is an infinite amount of time for the atoms that you are made of now to reunite and create you again. Therefore, dying is pointless. However, living is also pointless, as everything you could ever do or choose has already been played out an infinite amount of times.

Is there anything to disprove this?

Hey /sci/!
I'm going to give you five semi-challenging questions, just because I'm bored. I want to see the general level of omniscience here on this board. The questions are from 5 different fields of science: biochemistry, physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology.

1. Biochemistry: explain briefly what chaperones are and how they work.

2. Physics: one of the wavelenghts of light emitted by hydrogen atoms under normal laboratory conditions is λ=656,3 nm, in the red portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. In the light emitted from a distant galaxy this same spectral line is observed to be Doppler-shifted to λ=953,4 nm, in the infrared portion of the spectrum. How fast are the emitting photons moving relative to the earth? Are they approaching the earth or receding from it?

3. lim [1+nsin(ln3+n^2)] / n^2 calculate the limit.
n->∞

4. A certain acid HX has protolyzated till 5,00 % in a water solution where c(HX)T= 0,400 M. Calculate the solution's pH and pOH aswell as the Ka of the acid.

5. Explain in detail, how protein synthesis works.

All of these questions are university level. Have fun /sci/ :)

If the universe was created by God; what created God?

Either it is a infinity of creators, or something started it all. Isn't it then logical to believe that the universe could in fact have been created by itself? Or always have been there? As something has always been there, or created it self.

One of the most sound theories in my opinion is the theory that the entire universe and everything in existance is just a quantum fluctuation. Which is the only theory I can fathom. I do however know it has some major flaws, but it's a lot more sound than most theories around.
