sci/ should be well versed in explorers of space as well of earth. I recently read the diary of Richard Evelyn Byrd, I'm not quite sure what to make of it. What do you guys think of his little 'encounter' in Antartica?

Water is common and the universe is bi and old. There is nothing particularly special about our location in the galaxy or anything peculiar about our star. I find it highly unlikely that our planet is the only one with life when our own solar system had 3 planets that could support life at one time and there are many moons with liquid water oceans.

The only reason we haven't made contact is because space is huge.

I live in Sydney, Australia.
As you may or may not know, our water has been treated with chlorine and fluoride.

So whatever their purpose is, I don't want to take those chemicals inside my body. Yes I am aware they are in very small amounts and they will literally go down the drain, but I still do not feel comfortable.

So, is there any way I can filter my drinking water so these two chemicals will not be poured into my glass?
