This is sort of true, but what you're missing is there are now convenient ways to write the whole sieve at once, and jump ahead, or have 1 function that does it all. You should see some of the crazy primality tests this guy came up with, I mean it's just crazy! I heard he did it mostly only using algebra too ! Some nerve this guy.
