Anybody who says oldspace is inefficient isn't paying attention to their accomplishments. Just look at JWST. They have learned to play the system perfectly. making simple projects into over-complicated money pumps is the peak of capitalism

Unbased. It would be better if it failed in space. Having the unfolding mechanism fail in some way would tell NASA that it shouldn't overspend on making their projects "perfect" since perfection for such things is impossible. Instead they should focus on cheaper more rugged spacecraft so more can be done with less. Having JWST explode on the launchpad would just leave the blame on the launch provider while billions more is spent on making JWST 2.
