/sci/, I have a thoery. I know it's wrong, I just don't know why...

Let's say two have 2 planets 1.5 lightyears apart. And one really long string with a dixie cup attached on each end to go from one planet from the next. If you spoke into one cup, the other cup would hear instantly, right? So if you wanted to send information between the two planets you could just speak into the cups or some shit.

The only problem is, I can't seem to find the giant hole in this thoery. Help me, /sci/!
