That is one way to look at it. Or you could trace interest groups to large corn and animal farming companies that hold positions of government that establish policy. We could feed the entire planet with the food we give to animals. Paying someone not to farm is borderline insane.

Hello scientists.

I need some help. I am currently studying law, sociology and a class called international English. I hate all of them and in all honesty I find them useless and tedious. I also have the simplest math at school.

My mathematical foundation for science is not very good. I have read quite a few books, and I am currently reading many, on science in general, but I am tired of the lack of math and constantly buying "layman" books. I recently bought "Absolutely Small", by Michael Fayer, and found even that to be rather complex. I presume that the math there is relatively simple for you guys, but it wasn't for me.

Anyway, is this a good book for someone with little mathematical background to start of with: http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Universe-Introduction-Physics-Astrophysics/dp/0387982957?

If no, then where should I begin? Any help is appreciated! Pic unrelated, but it makes me chuckle.

Genius is bullshit. You become a genius by getting the recognition of everyone else. Most people we consider genius were not considered genius early in there lives but accepted in hindsight. If you actually give a shit you can predict a trend or a potential in some field and exploit it for recognition, or have an iq over 160. Or just be happy seeing your own worth and not demanding that others see it.

Tut Ankh Amun was buried with a small knife made of steel placed over his heart. The greatest treasure that the god-king owned.

The Earth is the largest solid body in our solar system.

The human brain is the most complex thing in the known universe.

Humans are equal at endurance running with dogs and horses. Our sense of touch is the finest in the animal kingdom, better than even raccoons who use it to hunt for food.

A Finn in WW2, Simo Häyha, killed over 700 russians in the course of a 100 days during the Winter War, his killing spree ending upon being shot in the head at close range by a russian soldier whom was killed in turn. Peace was declared six days later. He regains consciousness that same day.

Bullets commonly have a muzzle velocity of Mach 2. Fighter jets are faster than that.

Objects at higher altitude become slightly heavier because potential energy also has weight.

Wait until Japan builds their space elevator, and then purchase some time with it. Set up remote-controller droids that can launch off to nearby metallic asteroids and then bring them back near the elevator for dismantling. Enjoy your rare earth metals. Use profits to build another space elevator, for some more mining, while now starting to offer vacations to the moon, Mars, and beyond.

Mind you, if you decide to go ahead with this, can I join you?
