i'm new to this board, i don't know much about biology and i have some questions
does anyone know what's actually involved in testing for covid-19? I keep seeing articles saying we can't do random testing because there's no tests to spare, i also read articles about a lack of "test kits" or that the test kits "don't work"
i thought you run samples through a machine? what are the test kits made of? is it complicated? I just read an article today saying we can't do more test because we have a shortage of swabs
the USA went from having a fairly small military to being an ultra super power in a span of months in WW2 but they can't make some SWABS? has the global just in time inventory system made us that pathetic that we can't produce some fucking swabs?

i'm so fucking confused by this whole thing, but the question i keep find myself wondering most is how does testing work and why can't we test more, if anyone knows and can explain it to someone who knows very little about biology i'd very much appreciate it
