>late january corona goes international
>one day I feel the common cold symptoms, muscle ache, fatigue, runny nose, coof, sore throat, feeling like I'm burning
>several days later all of symptoms disappear, but extreme fatigue and burning sensation are still there
>several days after that for the first time experience breathing difficulties
>call in sick, there were only 2 corona cases in my country at that time, so no suspicion from employer - it's just a flu bro, it's february, what do you expect, it's okay
>I have to inhale and exhale every second as if I was just finished sprinting for 10 minutes and fatigue is getting worse
>too pussy to call a doctor and just sleep it off
>several days later, seems all is back to normal, just burning sensation is there
>go back to work from office, but burning sensation still persists
>about 1 week later a colleague with almost non-working kidneys (mandatory dialysis procedure every 2 days) get's sick
>the closest person that sits to her is me
>she still goes to work but has heavy cough and is looking very sick
>several days later
>it's friday she is in office but leaves early because she's felling sick and and tells me - I think these are my last days
>bs, you will get better, probably just a flu
>doesn't show up to work on monday
>on tuesday morning, in office we're informed she passed away, her sister went to her apartment after she didn't answer phone calls and found her laying unconscious near door, dressed up as if she's leaving for work just as usual
>her sister is the only living closest relative, she doesn't allow autopsy, so the final verdict is "died from heart attack, most likely"
>6 months later test for antibodies
>absolute fucking zero
I hope this was just a fucking coincidence

You are given a known vector w. Let's say that T(v) is the transformation from R^n to R^n defined as the projection of v on w. Thus we have

[(v • w)/(w • w)]w

So v is a variable and w is known and the transformation is a vector projection of v on w.

This isn't homework. I just had a test on this and I know I answered wrong because it asked if the transformation is linear and if it is, find the matrix. I said it isn't linear because by the formula for projection, the ratio of dot products of v • w and |w|^2 produces a scalar and a linear transformation by definition must be a matrix transformation. Apparently projections are in fact linear transformations but the piece of shit textbook doesn't say why and just leaves the proof "as an exercise for the reader".

Can someone explain how you even get the a matrix out of the projection formula?

Taking the second semester of real analysis and I got a D- on our midterm exam.

I am an EE major who picked up math as a second major last year. I did ok in discrete math but I got a D and D+ in Real Analysis I and Abstract Algebra I.

Before picking up math, my GPA was a 3.7. I don't think I'm going to be able to graduate with a GPA above a 3.0 if I keep the math major. :-(

Don't make the same mistake I made. Just because you're good at applied math, it doesn't mean you will be good at majoring in pure math.

I can't take this anymore. I work hard and practice but I can't do calculations fast enough on tests and I constantly make arithmetic errors. Aboit 60% of the time I calculate the inverse of a matrix via elimination I get one or more values wrong. Tests are only 50 minutes with no calculators. I want to kill myself. I can't take it anymore. I work and I work but you need to be fucking perfect to do well in this subject.

>got best grades in my high school in the UK, good enough for any university, was pretty much a /sci/ nerd type of person
>went to my nearest university due to money issues (parents wouldn't pay living costs for anywhere else)
>did engineering degree
>hated degree: was boring as fuck and intellectually worthless
>felt eternally butthurt when I was doing glorified job training bullshit in the later years of the degree when I knew that people who started uni at the same time as me would be learning secrets of the universe in maths or physics degrees
>hated university: mainly because I am not a normie, an ugly autist with no friends
>course was dumbed down as fuck compared to other better universities
>in the UK you take "Maths for Engineering" courses so intro stuff was even more dumbed down
>went through entire degree without any courses mentioning (to name a few common topics) eigenvectors, binomial thoerem, poisson distribution, bayes theorem, almost all of vector calculus, basic sorting algorithms in the intro to programming course (to show how shallow it was), proofs
>scrape through the degree with an acceptable grade and end up putting no effort because I hated the entire thing

Did anyone else have a 100 % worthless time at university?

I know this sounds arrogant but the university failed me, not the other way around. They are incentivised to dumb down courses to get as much students as possible.

Engineering is a glorified job training degree. What a joke.
