It's interesting how in 67 years of orbital launches there's only one potential orbital launch attempt that we're really unsure existed, and if it did whether it aimed for orbit or for a suborbital trajectory (the 3rd Kaituozhe-1 launch in 2005).

We're more or less sure of the intent of early R7 launches, DF4/CZ-1 launches, Taepodong/Unha launches being either supposed to be orbital attempts or suborbital. But Kaituozhe 1 is the one exception in thousands of launches.
