hello im an atheist who believes in evolution and i have a question to ask:
evolutionists state that oceanic islands inhabit organisms such as birds, plants or insects (which could transport there with aerial means) but nearly no sign of mammals or other animals who couldn't cross oceans. This is one evidence for evolution in terms of biogeography. Evolutionist Jerry Coyne asks why a creator would seperate organisms like this. He also states that mammals have been introduced to oceanic islands before by humans and they've been able to live pretty well so it's not that they can't adapt. The problem is that these newly introduced animals easily dominate the species who were on the islands and they deplete natural sources, while also endangering their preys.

This makes me think that if a creator existed, maybe then it purposefully kept mammals and other species away from these islands because after a while they wouldnt be able to exist (because of depleted resources) and also because it wanted to protect the ones already living on the islands.

In conclusion I don't understand how this is a strong evidence as in a creationist could easily use this as a comeback

What I find funny is that they default to an absentee father figure dreamed up by some guys in a desert back when shitting in a bush was the height of technology, instead of, y'know, sufficiently advanced aliens.

Imagine a day when computers would be so advanced you can create simulated people on them, like the sims, except they're actual sentient beings. And then watch them going about their days unaware that they're living in a simulation, being watched.

Yeah, yeah. But It'd be easy to just include the omnipotence thing as propaganda y'know?

It's easy to assume, being farmers and shepards who have no idea what orbital surveillance or cameras are, that one incident of "knowing more than you should" could lead to a declaration of omniscience, the same way a display of power could lead to omnipotence.

Basically, ignorant assumptions rather than rational examination. It's like that episode of Star Trek TNG where a bunch of proto-vulcans started worshipping Picard as a diety because of a few oopsies with the Prime Directive.

You could have Yahweh and Satan as actual rivals, maybe they were part of a team who was sent out to seed life on Earth-like planets throughout the galaxy. The rest of the named angels were the crew on their ship or what have you. Transhumans would easily appear to Bronze age people as Godlike.

I don't get why we don't start up O- farms.

Hell we don't need to just harvest the body parts either we could harvest everything, organs, stem cells, etc.

In fact an O- human farm would be such a lucrative proposition that it absolutely boggles my mind that this hasn't yet been done. The life saving potential is staggering, not to mention having a supply of research subjects available for drug testing that would spare thousands of animals from being test subjects.

I'm not talking eugenics either 'cause I'm not saying select against certain traits, just take some sperm, some eggs, and start the farm from there.

I just thought that religion is a way (wether it is motivated and/or naturally occuring is a different debate- I'd say both, in turns, or loops) to keep low classes (majority of people) from rebellion.
"God is something personal" you've already heard this one from many believers, notably, the most moderate ones ("less proselytic ones" would be more correct)
Yes. It is true. It seems that God = [(e)go(d)] .
It's all about yourself (nothing personnal here )and how you hope your life will evolve in a closed system = you and God (your OverSelf : "hope", motivations) while being taught that divine intervention is a possibility ( wich translate into = do nothing, wait for something good to happen to you).

See, there's a problem there. That's not how real life works (imo). In real life (the world outside your head), we are all interdependant , intertwined. We are a society, we are a civilization, we are a species. We have to recognize each others and understand that it's trough collective actions, cooperation that we will obtain betterment of our lives, not by waiting there in our little world hoping that our personal God does it for us. You're just being passive. I understand that human society is frightening and can look too complex to understand (thus, requires a personal Guide, a Mentor, a Father)... but this idea of God is keeping people perceiving themselves as a true collective.

God is a delusion, an idea of false self worth induced by our most basic survival instincts "I am important, I deserve a God -I need one to protect me-" that restricts the individual into its own individuality, speaking to himself (god), waiting for a passive part of himself (god) to do stuff. While he should look at other people, understand he is nothing special and is in the same condition as his siblings ..and maybe he will find that they could try to do something together to better their lives .

Now picture this on a country -or even global, why not- wide scale.

Yes...

I imagine God may likely be a race of extra terrestrial beings who have technology that made every one in the biblical times think they were omnipresent entities or something like that, maybe when Jesus turned water into wine, just maybe he was making them kool-aid.

To make such a planet habitable is almost too easy. And of all the places in the cosmos, it's right next door to a species which is looking to expand.

No distance at all away is a planet which can be made habitable simply by sowing seeds and melting some ice. As easy as opening up a nicely packaged birthday present...

Almost like it was made that way... Like it was made for us...

Religion is a hereditary memetic disease which exploits our evolved herd instincts. Once infected; the disease can only be overcome through natural critical thinking skills empowered by knowledge.

It is my opinion, therefore, that as long as people with weak critical thinking abilities are being born into religious families; religion will always exist.
