Greetings /sci/!

To those who've not seen this thread a couple of months ago, we are /sci/'s Hyperloop Pod Design Competition Student Team.

It has been a while since I've posted about our updates. Things have not been as smooth as we've hoped. We couldn't find an Aero guy to kickstart the design process and stalled, which led to the team breaking apart. However I've managed to recruit an Aero PhD student from my uni, with his advisor, CFD simulation advisors and assembled a team under them to run the analyses. We're 3 guys left (4 with Chip) from the original team - in total we're a team 9.

To anyone from the original team who might see this, we're steadily moving forward so just in case you've been demotivated by our stagnation, things have cleared quite a bit.

For everyone else, we have submitted our names to SpaceX, however if you want to be a part of this project, whether a student or not, please send an email to:
>possessedmanager@gmail.com

Right now we're in need of guys that can design:
-Linear Propulsion
-Compressors
-Avionics
-Safety Systems
Obviously we don't expect you to design these from scratch. Instead, we've pinpointed already available technologies and projects that are suited to be employed in our design.

Other than these, the two design challenges our Aero team are tackling right now are:
-Aero design to mitigate shockwaves
-Air bearings
Also feel free to ask / state your interest about this project, again to:
>possessedmanager@gmail.com

Greetings /sci/!

Last week I've started a thread on SpaceX's Hyperloop Pod Student Competition and we've currently gathered a team to work on. This is a /sci/ community project, so feel free to join us, even if you don't think you could contribute much. A lot of the guys (including myself) are on the project for the fun ride

These are the reference sites of the competition, but I've extracted the useful information out of them and put them in three pastebins:

Preliminary Design Briefing

Final Design Package

The info within these documents are from the Hyperloop Alpha white paper from the SpaceX site

This week we will have a kickoff meeting - possibly on our IRC channel *next post* . Everyone interested, willing to participate, or just to take a look around is invited!

please vote in the poll below to see when is the best for everyone

/sci/ listen

what if we came together and designed our own pod to enter the competition

http://techcrunch.com/2015/06/15/spacex-is-hosting-a-hyperloop-pod-competition-and-will-build-a-test-track/
http://www.spacex.com/hyperloop

we have until september 15 to submit
it's a student event, shouldn't expect too sophisticated designs
