Hey chaps, I am currently a 1st year doing a Bsc in Mathematics at Sheffield university (Not best of the best but still Russel Group) and I aspire to be a cryptographer as my career. The only issue is I don't know where to start. I know GCHQ is the big one to aim for (Britfag here). What would you recommend I do, internship, volunteering wise etc. to make myself stand outside of the crowd? Should I go for a lower maths based job and work my way up the career ladder? Should I complete a masters in mathematics, or is it not unnecessary? Would they laugh if I put on my CV that I read books on cryptography in my spare time (in the sense it doesn't prove anything)? Any help would be great, thank you.

Pic unrelated.

The estimate for missions to Mars are closer to $60 billion under Zubrin/Weaver's Mars Semi-Direct mission, which includes plans for artificial gravity in transit, and manufacturing the return rocket fuel out of the CO2 in the Martian atmosphere and hydrogen brought from Earth using a 19th century chemical process.

I've always been relatively misanthropic, only optimistic about the best and brightest pulling the rest of the world along.

Then I realized how tenuous the line between 'society helping me' and 'society killing me' was. I think I'm gonna bunk with Mad Scientist in some relatively deep underwater complex until the tide waters and devastation recede.

Pic partially related: If we can't fix some of the simple ones on there with already-known techniques on treating the problem, perhaps this species doesn't deserve to live into the next century.

The enormous fucking bailouts I posted in that image.
Some of the things mentioned in this image.
corn and sugar subsides
corporate personhood
absurd monsanto patent laws
a plethora of obscure regulations, taxes, subsides and tariffs in various industries
