Bones is the better researcher - she's far more educated over a much wider range of fields and her work involves a much more regular application of her knowledge and skills.

Scully is the better partner - she's skeptical but not completely dismissive and unlike Bones is able to retain a healthy sense of professionalism in her relationship with her partner while still remaining extremely loyal to them.

Ron Paul's plan is to shut down ALL publicly funded research agencies (outside of DoD research)

Gary Johnson's plan is to cut science funding (actually all federal spending) by about half

Romney's plan is to hold a meeting to nominate a person to oversee the formation of a committee that may or may not review the status of the space program and could possibly maybe probably not do anything about it.

Obama's been pushing for overhaul's to NASA and STEM stuff in general since day one. NASA's average budget for the last 4 years is about 3 billion higher than the average for the previous 8. He actually still wants to raise it more to fund a new tech development program through the agency but so far has only managed to get his CCDev/CCiCap stuff funded.

Fun Fact: The Oort Cloud is actually the frozen remains of millions of time machines and time travelers who tried to go back in time and kill Hitler.

How does /sci/ go about brainstorming ideas for research projects?

My University is offering a small award for astronomy-related undergraduate summer research projects and I'm planning to apply for it. (One of my undergraduate goals is to try and get something published or at least on that track before I graduate)

I've done a little research with faculty but I'm not clear on the best way to come up with an independent project. I've got some ideas but after looking at existing research it just seems like everything I've come up with has 'been done', to some extent or another.

Should I look at researching specific cases of these concepts? Try to find some new angle or 'spin' to approach them with? Or do I just need to keep looking for something that's never been done.

Any advice would be appreciated, even just a nudge in the right direction.

Thanks

So how exactly are forces 'transmitted'? (if that's the right word to use)
