GPT isn't conscious because it relays it's responses based on your prompts, not it's own perception of reality. It does not perceive because it has no own volition. ChatGPT is basically a chess bot, trying to construct best possible "move" in response to your prompts, and chess bots are not conscious, because they do not feel, nor act on their own, only in response, just like calculators and other binary machines.
